I make music that frees me from thought. Every song is a portrayal of the egoic patterns I was once trapped in, and by expressing them through music, I am able to free myself from them and become more aware. It is liberating, and I believe this process resonates with others too — both in practice and as listeners.

Sonotto is the multifaceted enigma of Stirling-born, Bristol-based ‘answer to Ziggy Stardust,’ Otto Neckel. Since the release of their 2024 ‘euphoric and cinematic’ world, WE ARE LABELS, Sonotto has been in the Spotlight on The Skinny, and turning heads on the live circuit. 2025 is set to be their most prolific year yet.

Being brought up in the countryside of Scotland, his entire childhood was filled with exploration and wonder for nature and the outdoors. In his homeschooled upbringing, he experienced a rather unique opportunity to truly explore his creativity during his adolescence. Nearly everyday he would be venturing into a new form of creative outlet, learning a lot about himself in the process. Before Otto began making music, he was an international trampolinist and a performing contemporary dancer.
